Every Halloween, pet owners spend millions of dollars on pet Halloween costume
Soldier’s sushi pet Halloween costume fits snugly around his waist without any trailing pieces or elements that could obstruct his vision.
s. They dress up their dogs and cats in everything from a simple ghost costume to elaborately coiffed pirate get-ups, long gowns, zombie clothes or UPS uniforms. It’s all in good fun, but there are lots of pet Halloween costumes out there that don’t measure up to the safety standards you should have in order to make sure your pet is injured in any way on Halloween night.

I admit it, I can be a bit of a Halloween junkie. We decorate the outside of our house, I sometimes wear a costume to hand out treats, and I always attend “Witches’ Night Out,” a festive, local event held every year that includes everything from a costume contest and discounted shopping to the Warlock’s Ball, complete with magical drinks and a live band at night.

Cat myths have been around for centuries, with some of them persisting into the present day while others have fallen by the wayside. Do you know which cat myths are misconceptions and which are based on fact?

Within that same amount of time, Soldier usually starts chewing his feet, often until they are raw and bloodied.

We hear about pets left behind by their owners, evacuation shelters that are overloaded with animals and other disheartening stories. But there is also hope and kindness and disaster animal rescue operations. Let’s take a moment to be grateful for all the good people and fine organizations out there that are doing their best.

For many people, tomorrow is a bittersweet day – it’s Pet Memorial Sunday in the United States, a day to remember the animal companions who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge to join other pets waiting patiently for the day when they will see their families again. After the loss of a pet, you know that even years later you still cherish them in your heart.

While surfing Kickstarter recently, I came across a new concept in leashing and collaring your dog. The title reads, “MAGDOG: Magnetic Dog Collar, Harness and Leash + ID System. The ultimate, simple and secure pet safety system.” That’s a tall order for any leash, collar and/or harness combo; adding in pet security makes the claim even more impressive. There’s a short (less than 3 minutes) video on MAGDOG’s Kickstarter page that sums up the details that make the magnetic collar system so unique.

Dog proofing your house is a must when you’re bringing any animal into your home in order to protect them from potential hazards, but it is particularly important if you have a senior pet. Senior dogs may have difficulty seeing, mobility issues such as weak hind legs and other problems that need to be addressed when you pet proof your house.
