Farm 2 Table Event to Support the Compassion Care Network

The Compassion Care Network protects the children and pets in abuse situations, finding them loving, stable homes.

As owner and editor at The Contemporary Pet, I’m very excited about one of the most important fund-raisers of 2017. We are sponsors of, and will be attending, a Farm 2 Table event launching the Compassion Care Network in Washington County, Pennsylvania. The Compassion Care Network is an innovative program that joins the forces of the Washington Area Humane Society, CASA for Kids Inc. and Cranberry Psychological Center McMurray to help ease the pain and displacement of both animals and children who are abused or neglected in the Washington County area. The goal is to be a voice for the victims while finding them stable, loving homes so that they have the opportunity to heal.

We’re excited about this event as well as the opportunity to contribute to the long-term success of such a wonderful endeavor. In many cases, abused animals and children fall through the cracks when there is domestic violence in the home. With the Compassion Care Network, that problem can be addressed by professionals and trained volunteers who will advocate for the children and their pets.

Studies have repeatedly shown that where there is domestic violence, there is also abuse of family pets, sometimes to the point of death. Abusers may injure or kill animals as an outlet for their aggression, to frighten family members into submission or to silence animals that are raising the alarm. For whatever reason, these animals often fall through the cracks and the Compassion Care Network aims to alleviate this problem. By protecting the pets of children who have been caught in a domestic violence situation, the Network also relieves the anxiety and fear of losing a cherished pet that many victims have.

If you would like to attend tonight’s event, tickets can be purchased at the entrance for $100 a ticket. This includes a farm to table dinner, wine and beer, live performance by Adam Brock, a Chinese auction, and a guest speaker who will discuss the goals of the Compassion Care Network. The event is at Bramblewood at Simmons Farm in McDonald, PA. Please join us for an unforgettable evening while ensuring that no child or animal will be left without a loving, stable home. If you can’t attend this evening’s Farm 2 Table celebration, please consider donating to the Compassion Care Network of Washington County, Pennsylvania.

We’ll be sure to post lots of pictures from tonight’s event over the next few days!
